The Center for Technology-driven Social Innovation (CTSi), together with TU Wien Library, plays a central role in the field of science communication within the European university alliance EULiST (European Universities Linking Society and Technology).
Within the Work Package “Outreach, Engagement and Transfer,” Anna Franzkowiak (CTSi) leads the Task “Science Communication Training,” while Juliana Giroletti from TU Wien Library serves as Co-Lead. This collaboration between the CTSi and TU Wien Library combines expertise in science communication and societal engagement, highlighting TU Wien’s active role within the alliance. During the EULiST General Assembly 2026 at LUT University in Finland, the concept for a new Science Communication Training was presented and met with strong approval across the network.
The aim of the Science Communication Training is to support researchers in communicating scientific content in a clear, audience-oriented, and socially relevant way. Plans are underway to bring the Science Communication Training to TU Wien as well next year, offering it to TU Wien staff, junior researchers, and senior researchers. In doing so, the CTSi supports TU Wien’s strategic goal of taking a leading role in knowledge exchange and innovation and strengthening the transfer of knowledge and innovation. At the same time, the collaboration within the EULiST alliance fosters networking across national borders and contributes to TU Wien’s international visibility.
Among other activities, the TU Transformer knowledge-outreach space was presented to alliance partners during the annual working group meeting at TU Wien in April this year. It could be explored hands-on and visually, offering a closer look at TU Wien’s science communication formats.
For the CTSi, this initiative marks another step towards more closely linking research, technology, and societal impact. Good science communication builds bridges between science and society, increases the visibility of research, and supports the transfer of scientific findings into societal and practical fields of application. In this way, the CTSi contributes to a university that not only develops innovation but also communicates it clearly and carries it effectively into society.
