The energy transition is making critical infrastructure more connected, more digital and more dependent on communication networks. At the TEB AI Hackathon by The Energy Bridge, interdisciplinary teams spend one weekend building prototypes that make energy systems more resilient against cyberattacks, physical disruption and failures.
- When
- Friday, 16:00, to Sunday, 19:00

What it is about
Power grids, pipelines, industrial control systems, energy markets and communication networks are increasingly exposed to cyberattacks, physical disruption, ransomware, system failures and coordinated threats. A vulnerability in one part of the system can quickly become a problem across an entire region.
The hackathon brings together people from cybersecurity, engineering, grid and utility operations, startups, software development, AI and regulation, as well as TU Wien students. Teams work on real-world security and resilience challenges, build prototypes and pitch their solutions to a jury of experts on Sunday.
Challenge tracks
- AI for Energy SecurityProtect energy supply and demand-side systems against disruption, manipulation and emerging threats.
- Cyber-Physical SecurityUse AI to protect the intersection of digital and physical infrastructure, including OT, ICS and SCADA systems: detect unusual behaviour, identify attacks and support faster response.
- AI for Pipeline IntegrityAI solutions for detecting, preventing and responding to physical and cyber threats against pipeline infrastructure.
- Power Grid Cyber ResilienceSystems that detect attacks, isolate compromised components, maintain essential services and recover quickly.
- Blackout CommunicationsResilient communication systems that keep coordination and emergency response working when conventional networks go offline.
- 5th Generation District Heating & Cooling (5GDHC)A viable business model for a low-temperature energy network based on a concrete use case.
The Energy Bridge will announce the detailed programme, speakers, mentors and challenge prompts on the registration page before the event.
