How can complex research topics be communicated in a way that is clear, engaging, and tailored to different audiences? With a new Science Communication training programme, the CTSi – Center for Technology-driven Social Innovation supports members of TU Wien in developing and strengthening their communication skills.

The trainings are offered as part of the CTSi’s engagement within the European university alliance EULiST (European Universities Linking Society and Technology) and contribute to strengthening the connection between science and society. The aim is to support researchers, staff, and students in communicating their expertise effectively, increasing the visibility of their work, and engaging successfully with diverse target audiences.

Science communication today is about much more than simply sharing research results. It helps build trust in science, fosters dialogue with society, and increases the visibility and impact of research. This is exactly where the CTSi’s new training programme comes in.

Experience Science Communication in Practice

The trainings are built around a highly practical approach. In addition to an introduction to the fundamentals of science communication, participants actively engage in hands-on exercises and communication scenarios. They learn how to adapt scientific content for different audiences, develop clear and compelling messages, and present their research or professional expertise in a convincing way.

Interactive group work, creative practical exercises, and peer exchange enable participants to apply what they learn immediately and gain first-hand experience in audience-oriented science communication. As a result, the trainings offer not only theoretical insights but, above all, opportunities to experiment, practice, and refine communication skills.
